Micro End Mills Application, Caracteristic,Speed and Feed
What are micro-end mills?
Micro-end mills a milling tools with Ultra-small sizes, generally use-for precision micro-machining. The diameter range is usually 0.1 mm to 1 mm. It is suitable for processing micro parts in the fields of electronic components, medical equipment, micro-mechanics, and watch parts.
Application:
1.Mold manufacturing:used to process tiny details and complex surfaces in molds.
2.Electronic components: For precision milling of circuit boards and microelectronic components.
3.Medical Devices:Complex shapes for manufacturing micro medical devices.
4.Micromachines:Used for high-precision surface processing in the production of tiny mechanical parts.
Features:
1. High precision: Capable of micro-milling within micron-level accuracy.
2.High wear resistance:Usually carbide or diamond materials are used, which are suitable for long-term processing.
3.Good chip removal:Due to the Ultra-small size, milling cutters are usually designed to consider effective chip evacuation to prevent clogging during machining.
Cutting Parameter:
1. Cutting Speed: The pace at which the outer edge of tools is moving when it is cutting is referred to as the cutting speed. Generally, Suggest 20-100m/min. You can adjust according to the hardness of the material and the diameter of the end mills. The two primary factors determining the cutting speed are the kind of material being cut and the type of cutting tool being used. When selecting the optimal cutting speed, the level of toughness of the material being cut into plays a significant role. The more difficult the material being cut, the slower the cutting speed will be.
2. Feeding Speed:On a CNC Milling Machine, feeding speed refers to the speed of relative movement of the tool or workpiece, which affects the cutting accuracy and surface quality. You can adjust according to the workpiece material and the sizes of the tools.
3. Feed rate:The speed at which the lead screw or feed rod is turning is what determines the feed rate of the end mill. Usually, the feed rate per revolution is y 0.001 to 0.01 mm/rev. Suitable for precision machining of micro end mill.
4. Cutting Depth:The distance that the end mill penetrates the material is referred to as the depth of cut. a common unit of measurement is in millimeters or thousandths of an inch. It is recommended that the cutting depth should not exceed 0.5 to 1 times the diameter of micro end mills each time to avoid tool overload and breakage.
Precaution:
Micro-end mills need to be matched with high-precision CNC equipment to ensure the stability and cooling effect of the tool, and to avoid damage to the tool and loss of machining accuracy due to heat accumulation.
